SINOPSIS

El corazón de este viaje es el brutal asesinato de James Byrd Jr. en Jasper, Texas. Pero esta no es una anatomía de su asesinato, más bien es una evocación de cómo este evento encaja en un paisaje y clima tanto mental como físico. A propósito, Akerman mencionó: ¿Cómo evocan la muerte, la sangre y el peso de la historia los árboles y todo el entorno natural? ¿Cómo llama el presente al pasado? ¿Y cómo este pasado, con un simple gesto o una simple consideración, te persigue y atormenta mientras paseas por un campo de algodón vacío o una carretera polvorienta?.

The heart of this journey is the brutal murder of James Byrd Jr. in Jasper, Texas. But this is not an anatomy of his murder, rather it is an evocation of how this event fits into a landscape and climate both mental and physical. About this, Akerman mentioned: How do trees and the whole natural environment evoke death, blood and the weight of history? What does the present call the past? And how does this past, with a simple gesture or a simple consideration, haunt and torment you as you walk through an empty cotton field or dusty road?
