The play by Rose Leiman Goldemberg, directed by playwright Françoise Merle and filmed by Akerman. I mean, cinema as theatre or theatre as cinema. The plot explores the relationship between the poet Sylvia Plath and her mother, Aurelia Plath, from their epistolary correspondence. The stars are played by actress and director Delphine Seyrig and her niece, actress Coralie Seyrig, who are filmed by Akerman, who felt a filial attachment to Delphine. It is a portrait of the encounter between mother and daughter through her correspondence, a subject that the filmmaker addressed from the beginning to the end of her filmography. It is also a relevant example of cinema about women made by women.
