Tania Ximena (Mexico 1985)Artista visual y directora de cine.
Su obra es el resultado de investigaciones de campo de largo aliento en territorios con múltiples
capas ecológicas, sociales y culturales, busca indagar en el efecto que producen ciertos fenómenos
naturales y climáticos en la vida de quienes habitan estos territorios, involucrándose desde la
experiencia personal y poética.
Su primer largometraje híbrido ficción documental POBO TZU – Noche Blanca (2021), explora el
esfuerzo colectivo de una comunidad por desenterrar su antiguo pueblo sepultado por la erupción
del volcán Chichonal en 1982, retratando la cosmogonía y la vida onírica de los pobladores. Obtuvo
el apoyo de EFICINE 189 y Visions sud est, fue parte de la selección oficial del 19 Festival
Internacional de Cine de Morelia. Actualmente se encuentra seleccionada en varios festivales para
presentarse durante 2022.
Su obra de video arte y artes visuales, se ha presentado en numerosas exposiciones y museos de arte
contemporáneo como el Museo JUMEX, el MACG, el MARCO, la Bienal SIART, la Trienal de
Nuevos Medios de la Film Academy de Beijing, Bienal de Arquitectura de Orleans, entre otras. Ha
recibido diversos premios y becas de producción artística para desarrollar su obra como el Fondo de
Apoyo a la Producción del Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, México (2020), el Premio
de la II Bienal Nacional del Paisaje, Mención honorífica especial XII Bienal Femsa, Premio de
adquisición XXIX Encuentro Nacional de Arte Joven. FONCA Jóvenes Creadores (2007-2008, 2010-
2011 y 2016-2017), de la beca de Investigación artística de la Fundación JUMEX Arte
Contemporáneo (2019), la beca del 6 Programa BBVA-MACG, entre otros premios y menciones.

Tania Ximena (Mexico, 1985) is a visual artist and film director.
Her work is the result of long term field research in territories with multiple layers: ecological, social and cultural. She seeks to investigate the effect that certain natural and climatic events produce in the lives of those who reside in these territories, getting involved through her personal and poetic experience.
His first hybrid fiction-documentary feature POBO TZU - Noche Blanca (2021), explores the collective effort of a community to unearth their ancient village buried by the eruption of the Chichonal volcano in 1982, portraying the cosmogony and the dream life of the inhabitants. The film obtained support from EFICINE 189 and Visions sud est, it was part of the official selection of the 19th Morelia International Film Festival and is currently selected in several festivals to be presented during 2022.
Her video art and visual arts work has been included in numerous exhibitions and contemporary art museums, such as the JUMEX Museum, the MACG, the MARCO, the SIART Biennial, the Triennial of New Media of the Beijing Film Academy, Orleans Architecture Biennial, among others.
She has received several awards and fellowships for artistic production to develop her work, such as the Production Support Fund of the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico (2020); the award of the II National Biennial of Landscape, Honorable Mention of the XII Femsa Biennial, Acquisition Award from the XXIX National Encounter of Young Art.
