Mauro Herce se graduó en Ingeniería y Bellas Artes antes de estudiar cine en la EICTV (Cuba) y Louis Lumière (Paris). Desde entonces ha trabajado como director de fotografía, y en ocasiones como coguionista, en películas como: O que arde (O. Laxe), Pour le réconfort (V. Macaigne), Longa noite (E. Enciso), Mimosas (O.Laxe), El mar nos mira de lejos (M. Muñoz), Arraianos (E. Enciso), Slimane (J. Alayon), Ocaso (T. Court), y A puerta fría (X. Puebla). Recientemente ha sido galardonado con un premio Goya a la Mejor Fotografía por O que arde. Dead Slow Ahead, su primer largometraje como director, ganó el premio especial del jurado en la sección Cineastas del Presente del Festival de Cine de Locarno en 2015, entre muchos otros reconocimientos.

Graduated in Engineering and Fine Arts before enrolling at the EICTV (Cuba) and Louis Lumière (France) Film Schools. Since then he has been working as a director of photography and sometimes as screenwriter on films such as: Fire Will Come (O. Laxe), Endless Night (E. Enciso), Comfort and Consolation in France (V. Macaigne), Mimosas (O. Laxe), The Sea Stares At Us From Afar (M. Muñoz), Arraianos (E. Enciso), Slimane (J. Alayon), Decline (T. Court), and A puerta fría (X. Puebla). Recently he won a Goya Award for the Best Cinematography in O que arde. Dead Slow Ahead, his first feature as a director, won the Special Jury Prize in the Filmmakers of the Present section of the Locarno Film Festival in 2015, among many other awards.
